Summer is… still far away. More snow this week, nighttime temperatures down to 24°F, and I learned a new term! Graupel. Ever heard of it? It’s like hail, but instead of ice, you get mini snowballs. They are cute, fluffy, cold, and evidently a regular thing here in Montana during the changing spring/fall seasons.
But never mind the persistent chill keeping us shackled to winter. Let’s talk about the FUN stuff that happened since I last posted. Namely… this:
That’s right. 4-H lamb season is underway. These three are Jumping Joe, George, and Zeus. As you can see from this photo, Jumping Joe (who outweighs my daughter by 40 lbs) is overly dramatic. This is his MO whenever we try to exercise him.
He is NOT dead or injured. He simply doesn’t want to go anywhere. Yet, despite his lack of enthusiasm for going on walks around the yard, Joe is always the first to greet us at the gate and loves attention. Between the feedings, the walkings, and one bloat treatment incident (we had to stick a tube down George’s throat to give him the medicine—fun times), we are staying pretty busy at my house.
As far as writing is concerned, I am still catching up on beta reads. I know, I know, it’s been two whole weeks! But these things take time, and I should be finished this week. After that, finalization of PREDATOR, and then I plan to work on the next Kingdom of Aggadorn novel, temporarily titled BLUE. The story takes place in a small coastal village in Aggadorn and features a gentle but determined young woman whose tyrannical father doesn’t want her learning “nonsense from books.” As she secretly educates herself under the guidance of the local priest, the young woman meets a mysterious stranger with ties to magic and Aggadorn’s dark history.
Sound interesting? I hope so!
Until next time.
